In the Media: Puccetti Racing awaiting Haslam's answer for WorldSBK Comeback

Wednesday, 30 August 2017 09:05 GMT

Private Kawasaki Puccetti Racing Team is targeting Leon Haslam for the 2018 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, as German speaking website speedweek.com reports.

Haslam spent eight full seasons in WorldSBK, and was runner-up in 2010 with Suzuki. The British rider has always kept a close eye on the championship, and successfully had a wildcard appearance this season in the Pata UK Round at Donington Park, which saw the 34 year old secure a podium finish.

Kawasaki Puccetti Racing’s team manager Manuel Puccetti told speedweek.com, that his first option for the 2018 season – where he plans to field two riders – would be a pairing of current STK1000 rider Toprak Razgatlioglu and Haslam.

"Over recent months, I have done everything I can to gain Leon for our team," he is reported to be saying. "But he is stalling his decision, as he has had a busy summer. In August, he had enough time to think about everything and he knows I need my plans to be fixed by the end of this month. Leon says he wants to return to the World Championship, but wants to be sure he has a winning bike. We will try our best to give him a bike on the best possible level. The second place at Donington Park proved that we could be capable of working together, and with the new rules for next season we are sure to make another big step forward."
